Argiano is deeply rooted in the history of the Tuscan region of Montalcino. Established during the sixteenth century, the estate's first owners built the cellar and the property between 1580 and 1596; the fun fact is that there are mentions of olive oil produced. Argiano went through many ownerships, passing hands from various noble families until Lady Ersilia Caetabi Lovatelli took over and promoted Argiano's fine products in major cultural gatherings. In 1932, Argiano won a gold medal at the Brussels Food Fair and was featured in the Trade Exhibition of Italian wines in 1935. By helping to found the organization in the birth of the Brunello di Montalcino's consortium in 1967, Argiano stands as one of the most historical and essential names of the region. In 1992, countess Noemi Marone Cinzano brought the property and improved the production facilities, bringing with her the famous Italian oenologist Giacomo Tachis. Since 2013, the Bernardini Sani has owned Argiano and became in 2019 the first plastic-free estate. They use sustainability as their core value for vine-growing using regenerative techniques and promoting biodiversity in their vineyards. We are proud to be representing Argiano's wines at Mr Claremont. This Brunello di Montalcino is made entirely with Sangiovese from vineyards planted- on marl, clay and limestone at a relatively high altitude between 280 to 310 metres above sea level. The vines are, on average, sixty years of age. The juice goes through cold soaking, is fermented in tanks with its indigenous yeasts and then matured in Slovenian oak barrels of various sizes for up to 30 months.
