Boschendal (literally meaning “Bush & Valley”) was established in 1685, making it one of the oldest wineries in the New World. Ideally situated between the iconic areas of Stellenbosch and Franschhoek, this position allows for a variety of cultivars to flourish; showing great balance, complexity and varietal typicity. The estate is proud to carry WWF Conservation Champion status and is globally recognised for their biodiversity and sustainability practices. Boschendal has three separate cellars for the crafting of quality Cap Classique, White and Red wines; each with their own respective winemakers whom are dedicated to producing a number of South Africa’s most awarded wines. Introducing Suzanne, a sophisticated white blend made in tribute to Suzanne de Lanoy, wife of Boschendal's Huguenot founder Noclas de Lanoy, and the farm's original matriarch. By all accounts she was a formidable, dynamic woman, and a pillar of strength for her family and community. A luminous pale straw colour with a green tint makes this lightly oaked blend inviting at the first glance. On the nose there are appetizing notes of white nectarine, key lime and green fig preserve with elegant oak nuances in the background. Framing the fruit is a hint of stony minerality that adds interest on the mouthfeel. This is a wine that drinks beautifully now but has the complexity to mature for another 5-10 years. A versatile partner for food, enjoy it chilled with shellfish, grilled seabass, roast chicken, veal and vegetable dishes.
