// The 2012 La Louviere Blanc has a lovely bouquet of white flowers, white peach and Japanese yuzu aromas that are very well defined and seem to gain intensity in the glass. The palate is well balanced with a rounded, waxy-textured entry. There is good weight in the mouth with touches of toffee apple and brioche toward the finish that is perhaps a little more advanced than I would like at this stage. Here I actually prefer the bottle under screwcap, which demonstrated much more tension and mineralite on the finish.// - Robert Parker Wine Advocate
The elegant nose features well-defined mineral and floral notes. The palate is broad-based and generous, bursting with grapefruit and mineral flavors with rare concentration. The well-integrated toasty notes gradually come to the fore, reflecting the barrel fermentation and aging. Fresh and bright with excellent acidity, La Louvière Blanc is a pleasure to drink, and will only gain in complexity over the next two to three years. 85% Sauvignon Blanc, 15% Semillon.
Château La Louvière is one of the most prized estates of the Lurton family, which still owns and operates Les Vignobles André Lurton 60 years after its founding. Sourced from a small estate vineyard with sloped plots of deep gravel and limestone soil, La Louvière Blanc reflects the essence of Graves soil, featuring a striking vein of minerality and acidity and a complex fruit and floral bouquet. Ch. La Louvière’s 14-ha estate consists of 25-year-old vines tucked along the base of the slopes covering the property. The soil, deep gravel mixed with fine limestone, is ideal for Sauvignon Blanc. After cool-temperature fermentation in oak barrels, La Louvière Blanc is aged for 12 months in French oak barrique, 50% new, on full lees with bâtonnage.
