There is a suprising ammount of Pinot Noir planted in Chassagne Montrachet, mostly the south east of the Appellation, the iron rich, limestone soils give them a freshness and immediacy which is very attractve. The Pillot family have been farming here since the 1800’s; Laurent has recently been joined by his son Adrien who has returned from working in South Africa, New Zealand and Australia.
