Glenfarclas 2011 Single Malt Scotch Whisky (1x100cl)

Purchased by John Grant in 1865, Glenfarclas is one of only a few distilleries in Scotland to remain family owned and managed to this day. Now in the hands of the fifth and sixth generation of the family, the Grants stand committed to the vision of creating the best quality Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky, in the traditional Speyside style. They are perhaps most famous for their devotion to ex-sherry casks. In order to ensure this expensive and rare commodity, that is integral to Glenfarclas' distinctive qualities, John Grant (5th Gen.) pays Jose y Miguel Martin bodega from whom they source most casks in Jerez a visit every year to maintain that crucial relationship. Filled casks are then stored in one of the thirtyfour damp and low-lying dunnage warehouses with an angel's share of less than 1%. Historically, they do use other cask types but are not proponents of cask finishing, although they did release a port pipe bottling from 1981 dedicated to the 4th generation, George Grant as part of the Family Collector's series.
