Yagi Brewery is located in Imabari city, Ehime Prefecture. It was founded in 1831 at the end of the Edo period.
The brand "Yamatan Masamune" uses the local sake rice "Matsuyama Mii", the "new born" sake rice "Shizukuhime" developed by Ehime Prefecture, as well as "Fukuhikari" which conceived by the clear river of Kumakogen. The brewery uses 90% of local sake rice to make their sake.
Water is very important for the production of sake. The brewery uses the water from the Ishigaki Mountain, the highest mountain in West Japan from Shikoku. This water was chosen as Royal water when Emperor Showa visited Imabari.
The passion of making high quality sake never stops since the establishment of Yamatan Masanmune. The brand has won the gold medal and many other achievements in "Annual Japan Sake Award" and in other tasting events with high recognition and comments.
