The Tenuta Ulisse

Chosen as the Best Winery of 2019 by renowned Italian wine critic Luca Maroni.
Located in the Abruzzo region on the eastern coast of central Italy, the family has centuries of experience in cultivating high-quality grapes. They have many indigenous grape varieties, including Montepulciano d’Abruzzo, Trebbiano d’Abruzzo, Pecorino, Passerina, and Cococciola. The winery is dedicated to preserving the most unique flavors of these grapes, resulting in wines with stunning aromas, a rich and rounded palate, and delicate tannins in the finish, making a remarkable impact in the wine industry.

In just a few years, they have received over 30 perfect scores from Luca Maroni, securing their place among Italy's prestigious wineries.

Winemaking and Aging
This wine is crafted by selecting the best wines from the past ten vintages. The grapes are macerated for 15 to 20 days, with temperature control maintained between 24-26 degrees Celsius during fermentation. After aging in French oak barrels for 12 months, the wine is bottled and released.

Tasting Notes
The wine showcases a shimmering ruby color. Its complex aromas include notes of plum and cherry jam, earthy forest scents, and a hint of tobacco, finishing with a touch of spice. On the palate, it delivers a rich and full-bodied experience, with incredibly soft tannins. Elegant cocoa notes complemented by hints of coffee and vanilla create an extremely complex yet captivating structure. (Recommended decanting time: at least 30 minutes)

Winemaking and Aging
The grapes are rapidly cooled during transport and fully de-stemmed before undergoing a low-temperature maceration for 12 hours in stainless steel tanks. After separating the juice, it is allowed to settle for 24 to 48 hours, then fermented at temperatures between 8 to 11 degrees Celsius. The best three vintages are selected for blending and aged in French oak barrels for 12 months.

Tasting Notes
This wine presents a delicate and rich floral aroma, complemented by subtle notes of citrus and kiwi, making it hard to put down once you take a whiff. The palate is concentrated and rich, showcasing ripe fruit and a wealth of mineral characteristics. Its lively and beautiful acidity allows waves of tropical fruit aromas to unfold, creating a luxurious experience.
